Massachusetts & Rhode Island

Daniel Read was born and raised in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. It is no wonder that many of his hymns are titled after towns that Daniel likely spent significant time in- both in Massachusetts and its very close neighbor, Rhode Island.

When America was still under British Rule, many parts of Rhode Island were considered part of Massachusetts. After the American Revolution, the area known today as the East Bay became part of the State of Rhode Island. For our purposes, the hymn titles that Daniel composed are sorted by the states that each town/area is located in today.
